Bruce Grover

Founder + Strategy Director

Bruce is a brand strategist and writer who has helped Fortune 100s, national nonprofits and leading institutions tell their stories in ways that create lasting impact.

With 25 years in the Boston and New York City agency and nonprofit worlds, Bruce has seen first-hand the power of mission-driven branding and communications to drive lasting impact for clients as diverse as Liberty Mutual, Columbia University, NYU Langone Medical Center and Humanities Kansas. He founded Cause to serve clients who understand the power of purpose to engage teams and audiences at a deeper level than what traditional branding and marketing can produce.

Raised in India, Israel and the U.S., Bruce brings a unique cross-cultural perspective to his work that inspires fresh thinking, inventive solutions and lasting change. Bruce grew up in a Bahá'í family dedicated to unity in diversity, and experienced the work of community building first in India, and then in settings as diverse as Maine, Boston, New York, Vancouver Island, Israel, Ghana and Argentina.  


Before founding Cause Bruce served as Director of Marketing and Communications at the Child Mind Institute, as Managing Director of NYC’s innovative Suka Creative, and as a content strategist at Siegel+Gale. Bruce continues to partner regularly with Imagemakers

Bruce has spoken at conferences, led workshops, and contributed to multiple publications (including a recent piece in Humanities Magazine). He has been featured in How Magazine, the Boston Globe, the Boston Phoenix and numerous publications. His work has been recognized by the American Graphic Design Awards, W3 Awards, Healthcare Advertising Awards, Utopia Awards, Black Book AR100 Award, Graphis Awards, American Inhouse Design Awards, CASE Awards and the NEDMA Award for Creative Excellence.

William Morrisey

Creative Director

William is an award-winning art director, designer, illustrator and educator who uses design thinking to help institutions and companies thrive.

He has generated design content for a wide range of clients, from global icons like American Express and Nespresso to regional powerhouses like Barnard College, the National Museum of American History, and Philadelphia Museum of Art, to local entrepreneurs primarily in the cultural and entertainment sectors.

William brings a meticulous interest in translating a client’s identity by visual degrees to create authentic expressions in the world, none of which would be possible without driven client partners, and tireless design colleagues, strategists, writers, web developers, architects, photographers, motion people and printers.

Recently, his work has focused on making human, memorable work for art institutions, academia, and local equity-based enterprises.

William began his career in the NYC design world and grew to include art direction stints at national branding and advertising agencies while also maintaining an independent design practicePassionate about teaching, William has been an adjunct professor at Parsons School of Design and School of the Visual Arts. 

William's work has been recognized by the American Institute of Graphic Arts, the Type Directors Club, Print magazine, Eye magazine, and more, and has been featured by Gestalten, the cutting edge visual culture publisher.

Melissa Harstine

Strategist + Copywriter

Melissa collaborates closely with our clients on strategy and content development for social media, website and print communications. With more than a decade serving corporate and nonprofit clients, she brings a unique blend of empathy and strategy to her work, leading to fresh solutions that make an impact.


Melissa earned a BA in English, cum laude, from the University of Iowa, where she studied under Pulitzer Prize winning journalists and members of the acclaimed Writers Workshop.

Lauren Russo


Lauren partners with our network of visual designers in New York City and beyond, and leads design and production work at Cause.


She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in graphic design from Kansas State University, and brings a keen eye and passion for brand and communication design to every project.
